Gift Wrap #
Any gift wrap that you have chosen will be included with your rose. If you have selected a willow basket with your rose, our Rose Care Team will have planted this before dispatch. For more information on our gift wrap options and how this may look, please see our gift wrapping guide.
Packaging #
Here at English Roses we put have put a lot of thought and care into how to get our roses to you safely. We have worked closely with our packaging designers to develop a bespoke box that ensures your rose can travel the country and still arrive in perfect condition. Weβd like to think that not only is our delivery box practical, but itβs beautiful too, meaning you receive a gift that is ready to give.
We take care to be as sustainable as possible here at English Roses, and so avoid single use plastics and use recycled material wherever possible. Our packaging is also fully recyclable, even down to the strapping on our cardboard boxes. Our gift wrapping also contains natural materials, many of which can be repurposed and reused.

Potted Roses #
Our potted roses are grown in large 5.5L pots. This is safely nestled inside our custom designed box, within an inner protective cardboard tray.
To open simply cut the recyclable card strapping and slide open the long edge of the box to reveal your new potted rose.
Inside the box your potted rose is contained in a cardboard protective tray which can be slipped out and easily opened by once again cutting the strapping securing it, and unfolding the top tabs.
If you have selected gift wrapping, then your rose will be contained within the natural gift wrapping of your choice and any additional gift tags or messages will be printed on the plant information label or hung on a stem.
If you would like to gift your rose within its box, then both the inner tray and outer parcel can be refolded and secured, ready for presenting to the lucky recipient.
Pot Sizes #
Our standard containers are made from recyclable plastic and have a volume of approx 5.5L. Roses will be happy in these for a month or so before needing to be repotted or planted – these are not intended to be used as permanent containers.
Our large willow basket is exclusive to English Roses and has an approximate volume of 14L. Roses bought with this upgrade will be potted by our expert team prior to dispatch, making a wonderful patio ready gift! Compact patio varieties will be happy in the willow basket for up to 5 years, while the slightly larger floribunda and hybrid tea roses may need repotting after 2 years.
Please keep potted roses well watered, as they cannot access water from the surrounding soil like planted roses can! Daily watering in the summer months is essential, and even in wet weather do not rely on rainwater. Please see our watering guide for more information.
How To Unbox Your Rose #
Whether you choose to have your rose in a standard pot or a willow basket, we recommend unboxing your rose on the day of delivery and placing outside straight away. Roses do best when in fresh air and natural light, even if it’s cold or frosty!

Can I re-box the rose to give as a gift? #
Yes! As you can see from the videos above, our boxes do not need cutting or ripping, only the cardboard straps that secure it together. This means that the boxes are able to be folded back together for transporting or gifting.
