Essential Rose Care For This New Month!
Rose Care & Advice

March and April mark the time to prune! All bush and standard roses should receive their annual prune to keep them healthy and at their optimum for growing and flowering. Any winter damage can be confidently cut off as the cold weather is now behind us. Simply remove any inward facing growth and closely positioned stems, as well as any dead or thin stems that are unlikely to produce flowers!

Applying fertiliser is also something to be done in April to give your plant an extra boost of nutrients, ensuring to keep the powder off any new growth and lightly pricking the soil surface. Follow this buy applying mulch straight after the first feed in early April to retain moisture and suppress any weeds!

Introducing English Roses

Here at English Roses, we believe roses are for everyone!

Nothing quite beats the colour, fragrance and soft touch of a rose. That’s why we are committed to providing the very best quality roses.

Grown in the fresh air at our Nursery on the south coast of England, our roses come in large 5.5L recyclable containers, ready for you to place in your garden. Carefully packaged and dispatched with care, we are confident that your rose will reach you in top condition. Plant straight away or leave in their pots – the choice is yours.

We also believe that we should protect the environment at all costs. We avoid single use plastics as much as possible, and ensure that all our packing is recyclable or reusable. We use peat-free compost so as to not contribute to the depletion of peat bogs, and also use recycled wood and bark fibre. Not only environmentally friendly, but roses thrive in it!

Roses make incredible gifts, and a wonderful eco-friendly alternative to a bouquet. Not only will they flower for years to come, but they will attract bees and other pollinators, and in turn more wildlife, to your garden. As they bloom year after year, your garden will come alive with colour, fragrance and life, and become a haven that brings untold joy.

From birthdays to congratulations, gifts for teachers or gifts for corporate clients, we have the rose for you! So many colours, sizes and shapes, from roses that climb high for pergolas, to miniature patio roses; all can be found on our website englishroses.co.uk. And with each rose variety having it’s own individual name, it’s never been easier to find a personal present!

We have over 30 years experience in growing and selling roses, and are always happy to help. Contact us for free professional advice, and help with any problems or queries you may have.
