Gold Standard

The Gold Standard Award has been awarded to worthy varieties since 2006. Established by the British Association of Rose Breeders (BARB), it has been independently managed by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany (2004 – 2014) and the Royal National Rose Society (2015 onwards).

The trials last for two years and information is gathered from various independent judges throughout the time. Health, flowering, scent and commercial appeal are all considered key factors for judging.

A full list of winners can be found on the Roses UK site, a website run by the BARB, and who also manage the Rose of the Year awards.

Many of the varieties can be found at locations such as Roath Park, Cardiff, which also displays many varieties of Rose of the Year. However, here at English Roses, we also have our very own selection of Gold Standard roses available. No need to travel to see these stunning varieties – you can have them delivered to your door by us, ready for planting in your garden. Send as a gift or treat yourself to these top quality roses!
